PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) therapy is a procedure in which a small amount of a person’s own blood is centrifuged using special kits, and then the healing and growth factors within the platelets (white blood cells) are reintroduced to the individual. The primary function of platelets is to stop bleeding and initiate the healing process when vascular integrity is compromised. Platelets contain various growth factors and cytokines. Due to these properties, platelets promote wound healing. After the application, fibrin networks formed in the skin indirectly work with the surrounding stem cells by gathering them into their own structure. Therefore, when PRP therapy rich in platelet cells is performed on the skin and scalp, the content, which includes endothelial growth factor, vascular endothelial growth factor, platelet-derived growth factor, fibroblast growth factors, triggers the repair and regeneration process in the skin and hair.
PRP therapy is not a procedure that significantly disrupts your daily life. It takes approximately 15 minutes and is performed with local anesthesia, the effects of which wear off within 20 minutes. On the day of the procedure, it is not recommended to have contact with water in the treated area.
